Garden Maintenance in Charlotte, NC

Garden maintenance is the regular care of planting beds: weeding, edging, deadheading, and light shaping of perennials and small shrubs. It keeps a bed readable. It does not redesign the garden or rebuild the soil in one afternoon.

What a garden maintenance visit includes

A maintenance visit works through the beds you name. Weeds are pulled or cut out, edges along lawn and walks are redefined, and spent blooms are removed when that helps the plant. Small shrubs can be tipped back if they are crowding a walk. Debris from the bed leaves with the visit when that was part of the quote.

Charlotte’s season is long enough that weeds do not politely pause in July. Beds under irrigation, or beds that catch lawn sprinkler overspray, need a shorter interval than a dry shade bed. Say how the beds are watered so the rhythm makes sense.

How lawn mowing differs from mulch and hedge work

Lawn mowing is the visit on the grass. Weeding and edging in the beds are maintenance. A full top-up of hardwood mulch or pine straw is mulching and pine straw, because material and depth change the job. Shaping a formal hedge is hedge and shrub trimming. The tasks can share a day when the quote lists them separately.

What helps the beds between visits

  • Water new plantings on the schedule the plants need. A maintenance visit cannot replace that.
  • Point out anything that should not be cut, especially plants you are training or that just finished blooming.
  • Mark irrigation heads and shallow lighting before edging.

Garden maintenance is not a design-build service

If the bed needs a new layout, new drainage, or a construction project, that is outside garden maintenance. The useful request is the care of the beds that are already there.

Questions

Questions about garden maintenance

How often do beds need a maintenance visit?

Fast beds in full sun and water may want attention every couple of weeks in summer. Shade beds can go longer. The quote should name an interval instead of implying every yard is the same.

Will you pull weeds by hand?

Yes, where hand weeding is the right method for the planting. A thick mat of weeds in an empty bed may be quoted as yard cleanup first.

Do you apply weed killer in the beds?

No. Pesticide and herbicide application is not a published service. Weeding on this page is physical removal.

Can mulch be added on the same day?

It can when the material, depth, and bed size are in the quote. Otherwise it is a separate mulch visit.
